Terry works as a bus driver, transporting people with disabilities to and from hospital appointments. He loves his job, however, his employer determined that it was unsafe for him to continue driving with his hearing loss.

Looking to continue driving, Terry went to a hearing clinic for help. With the prohibitive cost of hearing aids, his audiologist referred him to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services for help funding the hearing aids he needs for work.

“Assistive Technology [Services staff] jumped right in to help me with forms, etc, for what I needed to do to have this program help me!” he shares.

“This help financially from Assistive Technology [Services] helped tremendously in providing funds for me to get hearing aids! Without this help, I would have lost a job that I love — or I would have to go far into debt.”

Within a week of getting his hearing aids, Terry was back to his regular shift at the job he loves.

“I would wholeheartedly recommend Assistive Technology [Services]! I would very much advise any people who need it to apply. This has saved my job. Otherwise, I would be deeper in debt. And I love what I do,” he says.

“Without the assistance of your program [. . .], I’d be out of work. And at my age, it would be impossible to get a new job. I don’t know how to thank you!”
