WorkBC Assistive Technology Services Helps Marie Work at Her Full Capabilities
Marie works in a women’s treatment centre in Vancouver.
“My hearing ability had diminished drastically, and I was unable to function at my best. I do a lot of phone intake with women, this is one of the most difficult phone calls they make and not to be able to hear properly was unforgivable,” she explains.
She learned about WorkBC Assistive Technology Services from Amplifon, and decided to apply for funding for hearing aids.
“I could not in any way have afforded the hearing aids otherwise.”
Marie was approved quickly for funding through WorkBC Assistive Technology Services and was able to get new hearing aids, which have made a big difference in her workplace.
“I can hear!” she says. “My hearing aids have given me a new life! I can hear everything! In fact, the clients at work say I now hear too much!”
Marie says she “absolutely” recommends WorkBC Assistive Technology Services to others in need.
“The staff I dealt with were superb! Ten out of ten,” she exclaims.
“This [program] has allowed me to continue working, and to work at my full capabilities.”
WorkBC Assistive Technology Services is operated by Neil Squire. Assistive Technology Services are available to individuals who have a work-related barrier due to a disability or a functional limitation. This may include barriers related to traveling to and from the workplace.
