Leanne works as a manager at a bookstore in the BC Interior. Her job involves taking care of the organization and upkeep of the store, customer service and sales, as well as stocking books.

“I have chronic pain, especially back pain, which makes it difficult for me to be on my feet for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and bend and lift,” she shares.

A friend who had received help previously recommended she check out WorkBC Assistive Technology Services. She inquired at her local WorkBC Centre, and in short order, she received an ergonomic assessment and equipment to help her on the job.

“I was provided with an ergonomic chair which adjusts to the right height for me at my work counter. It allows me to take sitting breaks, and offers back support. I was also provided with an adjustable rolling stool, so that I could access and organize books on the lower shelves easier.”

Leanne says she recommends WorkBC Assistive Technology Services to others.

“I’m much happier,” she explains. “They made it much easier for me to work a seven-hour shift. I’m having less pain.

“Everyone has been so helpful.”
