WorkBC Assistive Technology Services “Has Changed My Life”
Alejandro works multiple jobs. He sells countertops as an account manager, works in the cleaning business in the evenings, and he works on-call as a waiter and bartender. However, he was recently diagnosed with otosclerosis, causing severe to profound hearing loss in both ears, making it difficult to communicate with customers and co-workers.
“[It] has impacted my life tremendously, I was having panic attacks, frustration and anxiety every time a client will make an appointment or walk into our office, as well as when my co-workers needed to speak to me,” he shares.
His audiologist at Connect Hearing referred him to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services for funding for hearing aids.
“They assisted me with financial aid, covering a large part of the hearing aids device cost,” he says.
The hearing aids have eased Alejandro’s workday stress, which he describes as life-changing.
“It has changed my life,” he says. “[I] want to thank [the staff] for [their] great communication skills, [their] patience to walk me through the process and the great outcome. Thank you WorkBC [Assistive Technology Services] for basically saving my life!
“I would be recommending this program to whoever is in need to improve their life and ability to perform better in the workplace.”
