Susan’s job at a school in Kelowna requires effective communication with students and teachers.

“I have hearing loss which affects my communication abilities with staff and students. I need to hear comments, instructions while directing students and reporting to teachers,” she says.

Her audiologist at Lakeside Hearing recommended she apply to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services for funding for new hearing aids. She applied and was quickly approved, receiving new Signia hearing aids.

The new hearing aids have made a big difference in the classroom.

“They have helped me tremendously. I now hear many of the instructions from teachers, comments from students and work related meetings at work. It is much more beneficial to not have people need to repeat themselves to me when talking,” Susan shares.

“I am not as reluctant to join in groups where people are talking, I ask people to repeat themselves much less often.”

Susan says she would recommend WorkBC Assistive Technology Services to others in need.

“Thank you for your financial assistance. I now feel less ‘left behind’ in communication at work.”
