Mowry’s New Hearing Aids Help Him Continue Making Art
Mowry is a renowned sculptor who has operated a studio in Victoria for over 45 years. Many of his sculptures appear in art galleries, and he designs and supervises the fabrication of sculptures that stand in public places.
“Because I am hard of hearing, I have difficulty communicating with my studio assistants, with fabricators, engineers, public art consultants, and journalists,” he explains.
He was referred to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services by Broadmead Hearing Clinic. He applied and was quickly approved.
“I asked for replacement of my hearing aids. New aids with up-to-date technology were paid for by the Assistive Technology Services program,” he says.
Mowry recommends WorkBC Assistive Technology Services to others in need.
“I am able to communicate clearly as never before,” he says. “I am able to understand what is being said to me. Telephone communication, for example, is vastly improved.”
WorkBC Assistive Technology Services is operated by Neil Squire. Assistive Technology Services are available to individuals who have a work-related barrier due to a disability or a functional limitation. This may include barriers related to traveling to and from the workplace.
