Marcie Finds “Greater Confidence, Higher Productivity” with New Hearing Aids
Marcie is a senior working full time in telephone sales. She works hard to sell appliance parts to both retail and wholesale markets, and follows up on requests for replacement parts.
“Hearing loss has limited my ability to interact with both customers and co-workers. It became necessary for me to ask people to repeat themselves several times in order to understand [them],” she explains. “Many times I would be unaware that I was being spoken to, especially if the person was behind me. It is easy to misunderstand instructions when you do not hear clearly.”
A friend of hers had previously gotten assistance through WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, and Marcie decided to apply for help getting hearing aids.
The staff at WorkBC Assistive Technology Services helped her with the application process, and in the end, secured her funding for a new set of hearing aids.
“Having the hearing aids has significantly improved my ability to perform in the workplace,” she says. “[It] removes stress from my life and also from the lives of those who are communicating with me.
“Without a doubt I would recommend the Assistive Technology Services program. Their support through the provision of technology is an investment in people’s lives. It allows people to function with greater confidence, higher productivity.”
WorkBC Assistive Technology Services is operated by Neil Squire. Assistive Technology Services are available to individuals who have a work-related barrier due to a disability or a functional limitation. This may include barriers related to traveling to and from the workplace.
