“Life at Work is Finally Not Frustrating”
Bernard is a housekeeper in Whistler, and he has hearing loss. Through WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, he received funding for hearing aids that help him on the job.
“Assistive Technology Services has changed my life in a way that it was able to provide me financial support so I could get hearing aids that I couldn’t afford, as it was very expensive,” he shares.
He’s noticed a big difference at work.
“With the hearing aids I got, I was able to function better at work, it became easier to communicate with our guests and my colleagues. Life at work is finally not frustrating,” he says.
Bernard recommends WorkBC Assistive Technology Services to others in need, noting that he’s already told his colleagues at work with hearing loss about it. While he was initially worried the process of applying and going through the program would be difficult, he instead found it easy and praised WorkBC Assistive Technology Services staff for their service.
“I was very fortunate to be assisted by people who are very patient and knowledgeable with regards to my case that they made me feel cared for. I am very thankful to them, and I want to let them know that I appreciate all the help they’ve given me.”
WorkBC Assistive Technology Services is operated by Neil Squire. Assistive Technology Services are available to individuals who have a work-related barrier due to a disability or a functional limitation. This may include barriers related to traveling to and from the workplace.
