Naida’s New Hearing Aids Open Up More Opportunities

Naida was looking for work in northern BC. However, she found that she was facing barriers — she is deaf in her left ear, and she also has hearing loss in her right ear. This makes meetings challenging, and she has trouble in noisy settings.
Through WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, Naida received funding for the hearing aids she needs for the job search process and future employment. “[It] helped tremendously, I would not have been able to receive hearing aids without the secondary help,” she shares.
With her new hearing aids, Naida feels much more confident in her search for employment.
“I no longer strain to hear instructions or have to pull others aside to get the information being relayed to me,” she says. “The hearing aids have opened up more opportunities. [. . .] Having the accommodations have improved the overall search by expanding where I can work and what type of settings I can be in.”
Naida says she “would 100%” recommend WorkBC Assistive Technology Services to others.
“This is a fantastic program, and I am very fortunate to have been able to receive the help I needed to move forward with my life. Thank you.”
WorkBC Assistive Technology Services is operated by Neil Squire. Assistive Technology Services are available to individuals who have a work-related barrier due to a disability or a functional limitation. This may include barriers related to traveling to and from the workplace.
