“I Can Now Communicate Freely and Easily With Customers and Vendors”

John is a small business owner, running a local retail store in Vancouver. As the sole employee, he manages all aspects of the business, including opening and closing the store, engaging with customers, and performing administrative and financial tasks.

“I have a moderate to severe hearing impairment that has progressively worsened over the years,” he shares. “This difficulty in hearing has hindered my ability to serve my customers effectively, which had a negative impact on my business. At times, my hearing impairment has also caused frustration and anxiety when interacting with customers.”

Through WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, he received funding for a pair of hearing aids.

“The hearing aids have had a profound impact on my work. I can now communicate freely and easily with customers and vendors, which has been wonderful. I no longer face difficulty with essential tasks in my job,” he explains.

John says he “absolutely” recommends WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, noting that it’s made him think he can continue to work longer.

“This program has been incredibly helpful for me as a small business owner. The cost of essential assistive technology had previously prevented me from obtaining the tools I needed to perform at my best at work. Thanks to the financial support from this program, I can now do my job effectively. I am grateful for the assistance I have received through the Assistive Technology Services program,” he shares.

“I would like to thank Assistive Technology Services and all the staff who helped me with applying for this program. They were supportive and kind throughout the entire process. Please keep up the great work!”
